fiorucci: the book

fiorucci’s first shop opened in 1967 and exposed milan to the styles of the swinging london. its new york location opened in 1976 and quickly became famous for the fashions it introduced to the united states. known as the “daytime studio 54”, it attracted the likes of andy warhol, cher, jackie onassis, and a young cher. in 1979 graffiti artist kenny scharf had his first solo exhibition there, called “fiorucci celebrates the new wave”, complete with a performance by klaus nomi, the experimental new wave opera singer.
